## Four signs you need concrete leveling

Settling concrete rarely announces itself. It shows up as a step you keep catching your toe on, or a puddle that has started sitting in the wrong place.

### Trip hazards you now own

A stepped walkway or entrance is a liability, not a cosmetic issue. Lifting the low section flush removes the edge in an afternoon.

### Water running at the house

Once a slab tilts, meltwater that used to run to the street runs back at the foundation. Restoring the pitch fixes the direction, not just the height.

### The cost and mess of tear-out

Demolition means a week of disruption, an excavator on the lawn, and a repour bill. Most settled slabs never needed any of it.

### Doors and thresholds out of line

A dropping garage or basement slab throws the door, threshold, and frame out of alignment. Level the slab and the seal comes back.

All four are void problems underneath the slab, not failures of the concrete itself. That distinction is the whole argument against tear-out, and it's the first thing we check on the free inspection.

Why CT Pro Concrete Leveling

## Six reasons concrete leveling beats a repour

We're a new business in a market full of templated franchise pages. Here's what we actually do differently, in plain terms.

### Foam, not slurry

Closed-cell polyurethane goes in through coin-sized ports, cures in about 15 minutes, and is waterproof. Mudjacking slurry uses bigger holes, weighs far more, and can wash back out.

### Built for Connecticut ground

The state frost line sits at 42 inches. Footings go below it; driveways and patios do not, so they take the full freeze-thaw cycle. We fill the void that cycle creates.

### Same-day return to use

On most residential jobs you park on the slab that evening. A tear-out puts your driveway or garage out of service for a week or more.

### A local crew that answers

We are based in Berlin and work Hartford County. You get the owner on the phone and the owner at the inspection, not a franchise call center.

### The quote is written and free

You see square footage, lift height, and the number before anything is drilled. No pressure, no same-day-only discount.

### An honest repair-vs-replace call

If the concrete is crumbled or cracked through, lifting it is a waste of your money. We say that on site rather than sell you a lift that will not hold.

How it works

## How concrete leveling works, usually one visit

Polyurethane injection is a same-day process on most residential slabs. Here's the whole sequence.

01

### Free inspection

We measure how far the slab has dropped, find where the void sits, and check whether the concrete itself is still sound.

02

### Written quote

Square footage, lift height, expected foam volume, and a firm price. Including a straight answer if replacement is the better buy.

03

### Injection and lift

We drill coin-sized ports, inject two-part expanding polyurethane, and raise the slab back to grade while monitoring the lift.

04

### Patch and use it

Ports are patched, the site is cleaned up, and the foam is cured. Most residential slabs are back in full service the same day.

## Not sure if you need lifting or replacement?

That's exactly what the free on-site inspection answers. We measure the settlement, check the void underneath, and give you the honest call in writing.

How the options stack up

## Concrete leveling vs. tear-out vs. mudjacking

The honest comparison, side by side. This is what we walk every homeowner through at the free inspection.

| | Polyurethane leveling | Tear-out & replace | Mudjacking |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Cost | A fraction of tear-out | Full demolition + repour pricing | Cheaper upfront, heavier slurry |
| Back in use | Same day, ~15 min cure | A week or more | Longer cure, slower set |
| Property impact | Coin-sized ports, landscaping stays | Excavator on the lawn, full teardown | Larger holes, heavier equipment |
| Holds up to water | Waterproof foam, won't wash out | New slab, same void risk returns | Slurry can wash out over time |

Concrete leveling wins when the slab itself is still sound and only the ground underneath has settled. If the concrete is cracked through or crumbled, we say so on the free inspection rather than sell you a lift that won't hold.

Straight Answers

## Concrete leveling questions, answered

How much does concrete leveling cost in the Hartford area?

Most residential polyurethane leveling runs a fraction of tear-out and replacement. Pricing is custom per project, based on square footage, how much lift the slab needs, and the volume of void underneath. We give a free written on-site quote so you see the number before anything happens.

How long does polyurethane concrete leveling last?

Polyurethane foam is waterproof and doesn't wash out the way mudjacking slurry can, so a properly leveled slab holds as long as the ground underneath is stabilized. We fill the void that caused the settling, not just the surface. Any specific lifespan figure comes from the foam manufacturer's published data, cited as theirs.

Can I use the slab the same day?

Yes. On most residential jobs the foam cures within about 15 minutes and the slab is back to full use the same day. That's the main advantage over mudjacking and over a tear-out, which forces a week or more of downtime.

What's the difference between polyurethane foam and mudjacking?

Foam uses smaller injection holes, cures in minutes, is waterproof, and weighs a fraction of mudjacking slurry, so it doesn't add load that can wash out or re-settle. Mudjacking pumps a heavy cement slurry through larger holes and takes longer to cure. For Connecticut freeze-thaw conditions, foam holds up better.

When is replacement the better option instead of leveling?

Leveling works when the slab is structurally sound but has settled. If concrete is badly crumbled, deeply cracked through, or spalled beyond the surface, a repour may genuinely be the better buy, and we'll tell you that on the free on-site inspection rather than sell you a lift that won't hold.

Why does concrete sink in Connecticut specifically?

The Connecticut frost line sits at 42 inches and footings have to reach below it, but driveways, patios, and walkways sit well above that depth, so they take the full freeze-thaw cycle every winter. Water washes out and compacts the base underneath, leaving a void, and the slab drops into it.
